Dear all,

I am currently researching for a screenplay set in a hospital/hospice
where palliative care is delivered. I would like to start a dialogue
with a member of nursing staff who deals with the day-to-day care of
the patients. This would involve discussing the physical layout of such
a place, daily work routine, drugs, equipment and technology used,
patient issues etc. Anything relevant to the setting and plot really.

Thanks

- Mark

Why not spend a day (or more) in a hospice?
Your screenplay will be much richer (and more likely to be taken up) than
basing it on second-hand accounts.

I agree with that Andrew
better yet why doesnt Mark become a volunteer visitor at these fantastic
places it will enrich his life to such an extent any screenplay he writes on
the subject will have personal experience to give it colour

Plus he may find out what women at work REALLY talk about

Thanks for your replies. Visiting a hospice was something I was
intending to do. However, before this it was my intention to conduct
secondary research via journals, websites and emails etc. I feel my
time at a hospice will be more useful to me if I have a degree of
understanding before going. It will be better all round if I ask the
stupid questions via email beforehand! I can then clarify and enrich
this understanding with my primary research.

Kind regards

Mark

top posting this on purpose

You will find that differing staff have differing agendas when they chat
at work you can find professional chat in the office personal chat in the
staff room (and smoking area)
What may shock you is the descriptiveness of female chat outside of the work
area
they can make a rugby player blush !

I give you fair warning if you think you are going to find total nurse speak
for the entire shift youre in for a shock
Holby City and ER are quite on the ball
