Hi All.. just a quickie ( if you will pardon the expression )

I keep hearing that from April the GPs will no longer be responsible for
making home visits to their patients. This concerns me as I am working in a
nursing home and it is already difficult enough to get GPs to visit the
people in my care.

can anyone enlighten me ? or point me in the direction of any info on this
matter.

thanks in advance Graham

New GP contract places the responsibility on the PCT if the GP opts out ,

strong chance that all that will happen is that current GP co-ops move to
being managed directly by the PCT or by the ED they are in / adjacent to

I understand that in many areas NHS Direct will also have a role in
screening all out of hours calls for GP visits & deciding whether their
visit is necessary.
